Supporting Salmonids in the Shediac Bay Through Integrated Watershed Management Planning

The Shediac Bay Watershed Association will carry out targeted restoration and monitoring to support Atlantic salmon, beginning with a small bank‑stabilization project on a Scoudouc River tributary using native vegetation to reduce erosion and improve habitat. Temperature monitoring at 15 sites, CABIN sampling at key salmon locations, and follow‑up electrofishing at the repaired McQuade Brook culvert will help assess habitat conditions and fish passage. Expanded stream surveys using RGA and RSAT will inform the Fisheries Management Plan, while new ArcGIS Story Maps will make temperature, electrofishing, and eDNA data more accessible. Education and outreach, through Adopt‑a‑River, school programs, and social media, will continue, alongside ongoing updates to the watershed’s eight‑year Fisheries Management Plan to guide future salmon recovery efforts.
