Installing Root Wads and Bioengineering Structures to Restore Fish Habitat on Trout Creek

Recipient: Kennebecasis Watershed Restoration Committee
Approved Amount: $5,000
Year Approved: 2013

In 1995 the KWRC completed an assessment of more than 285 km of streams within our watershed. Degraded riparian zones and elevated stream temperatures were shown to be limiting the performance of our watershed and this project will improve fish habitat and riparian habitat conditions along a 115 m section of Trout Creek.  Using fascine bundles to stabilize an eroding stream bank and provide trout cover, the KWRC will reduce sediment flow, increase hydraulic structure and flow in the channel, and decrease predation risks for larger trout in the Trout Creek.
