Wild Atlantic salmon restoration and stewardship
This project covers a number of components that will benefit the Atlantic salmon population and its habitat in the Kouchibouguac and Kouchibouguacis River watershed. Different monitoring methods will be used to collect data on salmon (and other fish species) population, available habitat, migration, age, along with water quality and environmental parameters. Salmon eggs/milt will be collected for incubation purposes. An environmental consultant will provide landowners with further guidance for future restoration work. Different means will be applied towards educational efforts; kiosk sessions will be set up at intricate locations for targeting residents from the surrounding communities. In-class presentations, outdoors activity and field trips will be offered to the students from the local schools. Photos will be taken and the ASCF will be recognized throughout the entity of the project.
