Watershed Management/Conservation Plan – Shinney’s Brook, Labrador
Before specific conservation actions can be developed and implemented for any watershed, 3 proper watershed/conservation planning must occur to identify highest priority goals and objectives. NCC is developing a comprehensive environmental management system that will incorporate not only freshwater ecosystems but surrounding terrestrial, estuary, and marine systems for greater overall management and conservation of resources, particularly Atlantic salmon. The key objective of this submission is to assist in the development of a watershed management/conservation plan for Shinney’s Brook that will not only be used to direct conservation efforts within that watershed but to serve as a template and training tool to be used for all watersheds within our management interest/territory. Incorporation of ATK and education on how conservation and management of resources benefit users will also be critical.
