WaterShade Year 4: Creation and optimization of conservation plans for thermal refuge drainage areas

The project continues the implementation of the action plan launched in 2023 to protect thermal refuges in the study watershed. It includes updating conservation plans based on new data, as well as creating five additional plans for priority sub-watersheds. Drone flights will document new confluence plumes, while thermal and hydrological monitoring will continue through the installation of thermographs and cameras on key streams. The project also includes a scientific collaboration with New Brunswick’s Department of Natural Resources to strengthen the land protection recommendations resulting from previous phases of the WaterShade program.
