Biological monitoring of thermal refuges in the Ouelle River watershed

Recipient: Organisme de bassins versants de Kamouraska, L’Islet et Rivière-du-Loup (OBAKIR)
Approved Amount: $14,000
Year Approved: 2017

For several years, researchers have completed studies on the location of thermal refuges, monitored those with thermographs and studied the type of thermal refuges. During this project, biological monitoring will take place to find out if those refuges are used by parrs or salmons. Each site will be briefly characterized by integrating the land use upstream. Conservation and restoration actions taken by FWSA within the project « Développement d’outils de protection d’habitats critiques pour le saumon atlantique » will be integrated. This component deals with 4 recommendations of the conservation plan.
