Salmonid Habitat Remediation and Restoration.

Recipient: Shediac Bay Watershed Association
Approved Amount: $10,000
Year Approved: 2017

The Scoudouc River and its tributaries are known to have locations where the habitat has potential for spawning. Habitat improvements to enhance oxygenations and pools, and restoring erosion, siltation and migratory issues, will be addressed by SBWA in this project. Extensive electrofishing surveys to identify important habitat will take place during late summer into fall season. Added this year will be redd site identification, or red count surveys, to locate important spawning habitat. SWBA will continue monitoring of temperature loggers and assessing culverts.  This project will continue to expand the engagement and education of the stakeholders who have a vested interest in the health and use of the river.
