Morell Salmon Habitat Reclamation
The main focus of the Morell Salmon Habitat Reclamation Project is to reclaim and repair Atlantic Salmon spawning habitat that has been lost due to habitat degradation from human and beaver activity. Habitat degradation has caused both physical and thermal barriers to migrating fish. Now that the biggest barriers have been addressed there is still a great amount of work required to improve the habitat that has been heavily flooded over a number of years to regain the spawning gravels and holding habitat as well as opening springs to increase the quantity of cold-water input.
