Margaree River Watershed in-stream restoration and conservation activity for 2019

In 2019 we expect to hire our normal in-stream crew of 4 people, as we did in 2017. We plan on hiring a coordinator to help us manage the in-stream crew and help us prepare for long term plans for the watershed. We will be hiring a consultant to help us pull together a 3-5 year restoration plan for our tributaries and also to provide us with a design for a major rock wall repair that is required in the sanctuary (Breakwater Pool). We plan on looking at the following brooks: Mill Brook, Ingram’s Brook, Lake O’Law Brook and Gallant’s Brook to improve the habitat and repair damage done during high water events. As well in 2019 we plan to install a barrier free fishing platform at Lake O’Law, in 2018 we approached the province and have received permission to install the platform to allow fishing from a wheel chair.
