Implementing Management Strategies for Atlantic Salmon – Bartibogue River

The Miramichi River Environmental Assessment Committee, in partnership with the Bartibogue Fish and Game Club, developed the Bartibogue River Watershed Recreational Fishing Management Plan (2016), whose twelve recommendations will guide priority actions in 2026 in collaboration with DFO, NBDERD, and regional conservation partners. Since its release, the watershed has faced significant new pressures, including large‑scale land conversion to commercial blueberry production, climate‑driven increases in water temperature and low flows, invasive species, and rising predation risks. The 2026 initiatives will address these emerging challenges while advancing long‑term protection and restoration of Atlantic salmon habitat and overall watershed health.
