Healthy Watersheds, A Sustainable Balance Year 2

Recipient: Richmond Bay Watershed Association Inc.
Approved Amount: $5,000

This project will restore ecological health for Atlantic salmon on two watersheds in Central Prince County, Prince Edward Island. Focus will be made to implement a fish habitat management plan while also striving to build upon our past successes and maintain existing structures and habitat quality on the Trout River and Little Trout River watersheds. Riparian buffers will be restored by planting one thousand native trees. Six kilometers of stream will be worked on that will include selective debris and blockage removal, installing new or expanding existing in-stream brush mats, and installing in-stream rock and cover structures. Additional efforts will be made to maintain our past successes by managing the beaver population over the fall trapping season.
