Habitat Restoration – Salmon Brook – Gander River Watercourse

This project will restore access to Atlantic salmon habitat in Salmon Brook where debris has created pools in that trap salmon/trout during the hot/dry summer season when water levels recede to no flow. Fish that are trapped in these pools either die as water temperature increases or are poached, possibly both. As a result, fewer fish migrate upstream to their spawning grounds thus reducing stock levels.
