Habitat Re-assessment of Crabbes, Robinsons, and Highlands Rivers Tributaries
Recipient: Bay St. George South Area Development Association
Approved Amount: $36,660
Year Approved: 2026
Subsequent to previous habitat assessment surveys, there have been several extreme weather events, such as hurricane Fiona in 2022, that caused severe flooding in the Bay St. George rivers. It is believed that this may have resulted in erosion and buildup of debris, causing obstructions to salmon migration.
This project will re-assess the Crabbes, Robinsons, and Highlands Rivers’ tributaries to locate and compile a current inventory of obstructions, leading to the development of habitat conservation/improvement plans. The plans will include recommendations regarding removal of the barriers.
