Environmental Stabilization and Improvement within the Greater Kouchibouguac Watershed

To enhance Atlantic Salmon habitat in the Kouchibouguacis and Kouchibouguac watersheds, this project will implement a multi-faceted restoration strategy. This includes: A) comprehensive aquatic environment monitoring using protocols like CABIN and eDNA analysis to identify and address water quality, sediment, thermal, and invasive species issues; B) a systematic assessment and prioritization of watercourse obstruction removal; C) the active removal of identified obstructions to restore spawning grounds and habitat access; and D) long-term monitoring of select river reaches to evaluate habitat quality and inform ongoing restoration efforts.
