Enhancing critically important wild Atlantic salmon habitat in the Miramichi River watershed.
Salmon Brook – this project will remove the sediment deposition and increase flow conveyance at the mouth by narrowing the brook and redefining its channel thereby improving the concentration of cold water exiting the brook, thereby creating a greatly enhanced cold-water refuge for Atlantic salmon, native trout, and other aquatic species.
Hudson Brook – this cold-water refuge will be significantly enhanced by using rock toes and deflectors to narrow the width of the brook to a more natural channel dimension as well as provide some natural channel bed scour at the confluence of the Brook and River. For both Projects, a Technical Project Design Plan & accompanying engineering drawings will be submitted, reviewed and approved as part of the required WAWA and Crown Lands Occupancy permitting process.
