ASCF FISH GAPS – Fish in Sustainable Habitats – Guidance and Project Support

Recipient: Canadian Rivers Institute
Approved Amount: $17,000
Year Approved: 2014

In order to fill the information gaps for groups working in watersheds to restore or enhance fish habitat and resources, we will develop an electronic compendium of best practices and a database of scientific research on Atlantic salmon and salmon habitat projects. We will build the Fish in Sustainable Habitats – Guidance and Project Support (ASCF FISH GAPS) web portal.  Scientific research in the region will be summarized from the primary literature establishing the current state of research and “translating” the research into searchable and accessible fact sheets.  This will provide users with a “go-to” web location to find technical guidance and frameworks that have been established and successful in terms of monitoring and restoring fish habitats and populations.
