News Release: FCAS grants more than $1.9 million to 78 Recipient Partners
March 3, 2026Fredericton, New Brunswick – March 3rd, 2026 – The Foundation for Conservation of Atlantic Salmon (FCAS) is proud to announce its 2026 grant recipient partners. Dedicated to the conservation of wild Atlantic salmon habitats and populations, FCAS allocates funds annually to support innovative conservation, restoration, education and scientific research initiatives across Atlantic Canada and Quebec, an endeavor made possible by an endowment fund established by the federal government (DFO) and the success of FCAS’ long-term financial plan.
This year, with over $1.9 million available in funding, FCAS continues its commitment to addressing critical wild Atlantic salmon conservation challenges facing the provinces of Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador. Receiving the FCAS grants this year are 78 unique projects that exemplify the spirit of collaboration and innovation, aiming to safeguard the future of wild Atlantic salmon populations.
With the addition of this year’s funding, FCAS has been able to contribute over $19.5 million dollars to 1034 projects, including over $2.1 million to Indigenous communities led projects. FCAS celebrates its ongoing partnerships with municipalities, Indigenous communities, educational institutions and conservation associations across the region – these collaborative efforts are pivotal in advancing the conservation of a species with significant historical, cultural and economic importance to Canada.
While demand for funding consistently exceeds the availability of funds, FCAS extends its heartfelt appreciation to all applicants for their unwavering dedication to Atlantic salmon conservation efforts. It is the passion and commitment of all applicants that drives the foundation’s efforts to expand its funding capacity and impact.
FCAS eagerly anticipates showcasing the dedicated work and achievements of its 2026 recipient partners and looks forward to amplifying the tangible outcomes that come from collaborative conservation efforts.
“The year 2026 represents another important milestone in our continued commitment to safeguarding and restoring wild Atlantic salmon habitats and populations.
