Salmon and Habitat Revitalization in the Skutik River
The project begins to fill key gaps identified in the Skutik Watershed Strategic Sea‑Run Fish and River Restoration Plan by updating habitat assessments for Atlantic salmon and laying the groundwork for effective recovery strategies. A comprehensive literature review, combined with community knowledge and new partnerships, guides the development of assessment methods and helps identify priority tributaries using mapping tools. Fieldwork such as temperature logging, drone surveys, fish monitoring, and stream evaluations refines a habitat suitability map and informs a report outlining restoration needs and collaborators. Throughout the process, community perspectives on salmon history, past recovery efforts, and future priorities remain central, ensuring that local knowledge shapes both the assessment and the recommendations that follow
