Reduction of sediments input from Five Fingers Brook 2017.

Recipient: Restigouche Rivers Watershed Management Council
Approved Amount: $9,500
Year Approved: 2017

This project is designed to decrease sediment inputs from agricultural fields and roads located in Five Fingers Brook Watershed. In 2012, a report was prepared to identify problems (attached excerpt from the site) and in 2014, work was done to solve most of the problems. Given crop rotation for potatoes production, new sites were identified as problem sites in 2016. The objective of this project is to rectify field, ditches and road drainage in an identified section of Five Fingers Brook in the region of Saint-Quentin, NB. Work consists in replacing one water crossing, in reconfiguring ditches and developing sediments traps. This project will reduce the sediments load coming from potatoes fields located in Five Fingers Brook watershed by approximately 29.8 tonnes/year.
