Characterization of piscivorous birds predation in Restigouche River estuary using bioenergy analysis approach.

Recipient: Restigouche River Watershed Management Council
Approved Amount: $22,000
Year Approved: 2015

The goal of this project is to characterize smolt’s mortality rate in the Restigouche River estuary caused by piscivorous bird predation during spring migration, more particularly the cormorants of Rock Bonamy colony, by using a bioenergy model approach. This approach makes it possible to define the Atlantic salmon proportion in the cormorants’ diet during the smolt’s downstream migration.
